eiendom 1868 - 1909 Bakkehuset [Bestefar til Edward Grieg, John Grieg, eide huset. John Grieg dør i Dokken i 1844, 72 år gammel.

Huset hadde tre piano.
Fra et barnebarn Ragnhild skildrer miljøet: " - in a big rambling wooden house, on a high hill. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, who was a delicate poet and a graceful story-teller, gave it the name of "Bakkehuset". This old home was noted for its hospitality and good cheer, and every Thursday night, for several years, various artists and musicians met for a soirée at

Bakkehuset. My grandfather was a gentleman of the old school - tall, silent, severe, but kindly, too. He was a friend of Bjørnson, Ibsen, Ole Bull, Edvard Grieg, Nansen, and other distinguished men. Together with Bjørnson and Ibsen, and others, he started the National Theater in Bergen."

dundrende konkurs. Olai Sjo kjøpte Bakkehuset på tvangsauksjonen den 16/12 1909 for 34.000 kroner. Olai Tomas Sjo, født på Halsnøy i Sunnhordland, bygger.], bosted 1823 - 1908
